Lymzit general information

What is Lymzit used for?

Lymzit capsules 408mg are a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in various parts of the body.  These include moderate to severe acne, where bacterial infection has developed and has not cleared up using topical treatments.  Lymzit capsules 408mg are also used to treat ear, nose and throat infections (like otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis); respiratory infections (like acute and chronic bronchitis); gastrointestinal and urinary tract infections; skin and soft tissue infections including, impetigo (a superficial skin infection common in young children); folliculitis (infection of the hair root); furunculosis, (boils); and infected wounds; non-gonococcal urethritis caused by the bacteria chlamydia, and other chlamydial infections such as trachoma (infection of the inner surface of the eyelid).  Lymzit capsules 408mg are also used to treat rickettsial fevers, caused by the Ricketsia bacteria and transmitted by ticks, fleas and lice.

How does Lymzit work?

Lymzit capsules 408mg contain lymecycline, a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the tetracycline group of antibiotics, with antibacterial activity against a wide range of bacteria, including: Streptococci, Staphylococci and Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria that causes infection of acne lesions.  Lymecycline in Lymzit capsules 408mg inhibits protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria by blocking the transcription stage, which is reading the protein message from the bacterial RNA.  This action prevents the bacteria from producing essential proteins needed for growth, repair and replication; and prevents the spread of infection.  Lymecycline in Lymzit capsules 408mg is also thought to reduce the concentration of free fatty acids in sebum, the oil secreted by the sebaceous glands in the skin, which contribute to the formation of acne lesions by supporting the growth of Propionibacterium acnes.

Treating bacterial infection with Lymzit

Lymzit capsules 408mg are a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in various parts of the body.  Infections that Lymzit capsules 408mg are used for include: skin infections like severe acne, where bacterial infection has developed; ear, nose and throat infections (like otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis); respiratory infections (like acute and chronic bronchitis); gastrointestinal and urinary tract infections; skin and soft tissue infections including, impetigo (a superficial skin infection common in young children); folliculitis (infection of the hair root); furunculosis, (boils); and infected wounds; non-gonococcal urethritis caused by the bacteria chlamydia, and other chlamydial infections such as trachoma (infection of the inner surface of the eyelid); and rickettsial fevers.  Lymecycline in Lymzit capsules 408mg inhibits protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria, which prevents the bacteria from producing essential proteins needed for growth, repair and replication and prevents the spread of infection.

Lymzit for Acne

Lymzit capsules 408mg contain lymecycline a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is used to treat severe moderate to acne, where bacterial infection has developed and has not cleared up using topical treatments.  Acne is often associated with puberty which is when a surge of androgen hormones can over stimulate the sebaceous glands (oil producing glands in hair follicles).  Skin cells that are shed from the lining of the hair follicle become trapped in sebum forming a plug below the surface of the skin, clogging the pores, which then attracts bacteria mainly Propionibacterium acnes, so that the clogged pores become infected and inflamed, which is how the pimples, whiteheads and blackheads (comedones) of acne form, causing an acne outbreak.  Propionibacterium acnes normally exist on the skin without causing any problems, living on fatty acids in the sebum secreted by the sebaceous glands.  However, overproduction of sebum can cause overgrowth of bacteria.  Lymecycline in Lymzit capsules 408mg inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, and reduces the free fatty acids in sebum, which reduces the amount of bacterial growth that contributes to formation of acne skin lesions and prevents the spread of infection.
