Flaxofibre general information
What is Flaxofibre used for?
Flaxofibre promotes overall health and well-being, is rich in soluble fibre and consists of pure ground flaxseed fibre providing support for regular bowel function while assisting digestive health and supporting cardiovascular health by managing cholesterol levels. In today's society the average diet is often lacking the recommended daily intake of fibre. Studies have shown that diets low in fibre have been linked to a number of health issues.
How does Flaxofibre work?
Flaxofibre provides a rich source of plant lignans (group of chemical compounds), which are converted by intestinal bacteria to active hormone-like compounds that positively modulate estrogen activity and malignant cell growth. Research suggests that lignans work as preventative compounds against bowel and breast cancer and other hormone related conditions. Flaxofibre also provides protein and Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids making it an ideal supplement to your daily diet to promote overall health and wellbeing.
What are the benefits of Flaxofibre?
Flaxofibre is New Zealand grown and contains no polydextrose (synthetic food additive) or artificial sweeteners. In modern society, it is estimated that today's diet is lacking in fibre with an average daily intake of only 10-15g, significantly lower than the recommended 25-30g daily requirement. It is important that the body gets adequate fibre to protect against bowel conditions and diseases such as constipation, diarrhea and irregular bowel function. Fibre has water-absorbing qualities which increases stool bulk and softness, which reduces constipation and ensures regular bowel motions. It also allows for easy movement through the colon, preventing blockage and inflammation of the intestinal wall.
Flaxofibre also assists weight loss and supports the treatment of diabetes. When in contact with water, fibre swells which prolongs the emptying process of the stomach therefor providing a feeling of fullness, which prevents overeating. Fibre also moderates blood sugar levels by slowing the absorption of sugars which consequently helps reduce insulin requirements and sugar cravings.
For those with coronary heart disease, have high cholesterol levels or are undergoing gallstone treatment, fibre assists in lowering blood cholesterol levels by binding bile acids and cholesterol and preventing excessive re-absorption of cholesterol back into the bloodstream. Flaxofibre eases constipation therefor reducing the pressure of straining which causes hemorrhoids - a contributing factor for varicose veins.
