Ebixa (Memantine hydrochloride 20mg) TabletsEbixa Tablets 20mg General Information
What is Ebixa used for?
Ebixa Tablets 20mg are used to treat moderate to severe Alzheimer's Disease, which is the most common form of dementia among older people. Alzheimer's Disease is a progressive, irreversible, brain disease that leads to a gradual loss of cognitive function, which includes attention, thinking, reasoning, learning, language, and memory. As the disease progresses, symptoms worsen resulting in memory loss, language problems, difficulty remembering new information, and unpredictable behaviour. Personality changes become apparent and the patient eventually loses the ability to manage daily tasks. Your doctor may also prescribe Ebixa for other uses.
How does Ebixa work?
High levels of glutamate are believed to be the cause of brain degeneration. NMDA receptors in the brain are critically important in the brain for learning and memory. Ebixa Tablets are thought to work by protecting NMDA receptors in the brain from high levels of glutamate. Improved thinking processes and memory recall should be improved by taking Ebixa.
What does Ebixa contain?
Ebixa Tablets contain Memantine hydrochloride 20mg and the following inactive ingredients:
Microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, iron oxide red, iron oxide yellow, macrogol 400, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, and titanium dioxide. Ebixa tablets are free of gluten, lactose, sucrose, tartrazine, or any other azo dyes.
Treating dementia with Ebixa
The medicine, Memantine (Ebixa) is believed to slow down the nerve damage found in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. Too much glutamate can cause brain cell death. Ebixa binds to and blocks the NMDA receptors in the brain preventing excessive glutamate from causing damage or death to the cell.
