Nodict general information

What is Nodict used for?

Nodict tablets 50mg are used to treat opioid addiction to help maintain withdrawal from opioid-dependency for those who want to stop using opioids, such as diamorphine (heroin) and morphine, and help prevent returning to dependency.  Nodict tablets 50mg are also used in addition to other forms of therapy as part of a comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation programme for alcohol dependence and helps prevent relapse to drinking alcohol.  A psychoactive drug is a chemical that acts on the brain and affects mood, behaviour, perception and consciousness.  Dependency on a psychoactive drug like an opioid or alcohol occurs when use of that drug becomes habit-forming and takes such a high priority that continued use becomes both a physical and a psychological dependence.  Tolerance occurs when more of the drug is needed to give the same amount of pleasure.  If the amount of drug taken is reduced this leads to withdrawal symptoms including, tremors, cramps, tachycardia (rapid heart beat), anxiety, insomnia, dysphoria (feeling unhappy and unwell).  The need to avoid withdrawal symptoms and craving for the effects of the drug are the driving forces for continued use leading to dependency and addiction.  Nodict tablets 50mg should be used only if you are willing to take medication to help with alcohol dependence or for opioid dependency  you have been opioid free for 7-10 days, and are involved in a rehabilitation programme to help overcome help the dependency.

How does Nodict work?

Nodict tablets 50mg contains naltrexone hydrochloride, an opioid antagonist that works by binding to the same receptor in the brain as opioids like diamorphine (heroin) and morphine.  Naltrexone in Nodict tablets 50mg is a competitive antagonist of the opioid receptor, which means that it prevents opioids binding to their receptor and this blocks their action.  Opiates and alcohol activate the reward circuits in the brain and this results in release of the neurotransmitter dopamine, the “feel good” chemical.  Once this pathway has been activated the brain associates the feelings of pleasure and euphoria with the substance taken and this leads to dependency and addiction.  Naltrexone in Nodict tablets 50mg blocks the physical dependence to morphine, heroin and other opioids as binding to the opioid receptor does not stimulate the reward centre and, therefore, does not promote the pleasure and euphoria associated with opioids.  This action is also thought to block the dopamine reward cycle associated with alcohol dependency.  Nodict tablets 50mg help break the cycle of addiction and dependency and are effective for up to 48 hours but they do not block the craving or withdrawal symptoms.

What is the Sinclair Method?

The Sincliar Method is an alcoholism treatment protocol with a 78% success rate.

Dr David Sinclair was intrigued by the extinction phase of the Pavlovian response, in the famous experiments conducted by Russian physiologist, Ivan Pavlov.

Pavlov, noticing that dogs would salivate when presented with food began a series of experiments where he would sound a buzzer or metronome at the same time food was given to the dogs. Over time, the dogs would salivate with the sound stimulus, even when food was not presented.

In the second phase of his experiments, Pavlov continued with the sound stimulus, but did not accompany it with food. Over time the dogs began to salivate less to this sound stimulus and this conditioned reflex became extinct.

Sinclair, began to wonder if alcoholism was a conditioned response that could become extinct under the right circumstances. His research indicated that alcohol produced a "reward" in the brain, namely the release of opiate like substances called endorphins. If this reward could be blocked, then Sinclair believed that the learned behavior of addiction to alcohol could be subject to extinction.

The Sinclair Method involves taking one tablet of Naltrexone, one to two hours prior to the first drink of the day. Over time, usually around 3-4 months, many former alcoholics find that they no longer have an addiction to alcohol. Many stop for good.

What does Nodict contain?

Nodict tablets 50mg contain the active ingredient naltrexone hydrochloride, used as treatment for alcohol and opioid dependency.

Treating opioid dependency with Nodict

Nodict tablets 50mg contains naltrexone that is used to help maintain withdrawal from opioid-dependency and prevent relapse.  Opioids, such as diamorphine (heroin) and morphine, stimulate a receptor in the brain that activates the reward circuits resulting in release of the neurotransmitter dopamine, the “feel good” chemical, and this is known as the mesolimbic dopaminergic system.  Once this pathway has been activated the brain associates the feelings of pleasure and euphoria with the substance taken and this leads to dependency and addiction.  Naltrexone in Nodict tablets 50mg is a competitive antagonist of the opioid receptor and binds strongly to the same receptor as opioids blocking opiates from binding to their receptor.  However, Naltrexone in Nodict tablets 50mg does not stimulate the reward centre and, therefore, does not promote the pleasure and euphoria associated with opioids, which helps break the physical dependency, although it does not block the craving or withdrawal symptoms.  Nodict tablets 50mg are most successful if taken as part of a rehabilitation programme to help overcome dependency and if you have stopped taking opioids so that the body is as already detoxified from any existing opioids, otherwise, this may lead to severe withdrawal symptoms including tremors, cramps, tachycardia (rapid heart beat), anxiety, insomnia, dysphoria (feeling unhappy and unwell).

Nodict for alcohol dependency

Nodict tablets 50mg contains naltrexone that is used as part of a comprehensive treatment programme for alcohol dependency and it is very important to take all medication prescribed.  Alcohol is thought to activate the reward circuits in the brain resulting in release of the neurotransmitter dopamine, the “feel good” chemical, and this is known as the mesolimbic dopaminergic system.  Once this pathway has been activated the brain associates the feelings of pleasure and euphoria with the substance taken and this leads to dependency and addiction.  Naltrexone in Nodict tablets 50mg is a competitive antagonist of the opioid receptor and binds strongly to the same receptor as opioids blocking opiates binding to their receptor.  It is thought that this mechanism may also be involved in mediating the effects of blocking alcohol dependency.  However, Naltrexone in Nodict tablets 50mg does not stimulate the reward centre and, therefore, does not promote the pleasure associated with drinking alcohol, which helps break the physical dependency, although it does not block the craving or withdrawal symptoms, including tremors, cramps, tachycardia (rapid heart beat), anxiety, insomnia, dysphoria (feeling unhappy and unwell).  Other withdrawal symptoms are due to the depressive effect of alcohol on the central nervous system and can include delirium, seizures and hallucinations.  Nodict tablets 50mg have been found to help reduce alcohol consumption and prevent relapse.

What are the side effects of Nodict?

The most commonly reported side effects when taking Nodict include: mild nausea, abdominal cramps, restlessness, bone or joint pain, myalgia, headache, insomnia, fatigue anxiety, loss of appetite, diarrhoea, constipation, increased thirst, increased energy, feeling down, irritability, dizziness, skin rash, delayed ejaculation, decreased potency and chills.

Low Dose Naltrexone

From time to time, we receive inquiries about Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) tablets. Unfortunately, all our inquiries to find a supplier so far have been unsuccessful.

It is possible for you to make a Low Dose Naltrexone solution though. We suggest you make use of your local pharmacy and ask them if they can make a suitable base solution for you. The base will need a preservative to prevent microbial growth and a sweetening agent to mask the taste of the Naltrexone. As LDN is controversial you may want to keep to yourself what you need the base for. If there is sufficient demand, we will look at providing a base for sale on this site.

Let’s look at the calculations. Please make sure that you absolutely 100% understand what you are doing as any mistakes will mean you will be getting the wrong dose.

Typically, Low Dose Naltrexone dosages are either 3mg or 4.5mg taken at bedtime.

We sell Nodict (Naltrexone) Tablets 50mg which is a considerably higher dose and virtually impossible to cut in such a way as to provide a 3mg or 4.5mg dose.

The best way to get around this is to make a Naltrexone Solution 1mg/ml. If you want a 3mg dose you simply measure out 3ml of solution. If you want a 4.5mg dose you measure out 4.5ml of solution, using a measuring syringe available from your local pharmacy. Remember to always give the solution a vigorous shake with the lid on before you measure the dose. Do NOT guess the measurements, get a suitable measuring device from your local pharmacy.

You will need a suitable base as suggested previously, one Nodict (Naltrexone) tablet 50mg and a clean, dry 50ml pharmacy bottle suitable for carrying a liquid. [We have heard of some people not bothering with a base and just using distilled or filtered water – this will work but there are likely to be taste and product stability issues, so discard any unused quantity after 12 days].

After preparing a clean area to work in, take ONE Nodict (Naltrexone) Tablet 50mg and crush to a fine powder using a mortar and pestle. If you do not have a mortar and pestle, you may crush between two spoons. Be careful to not spill the powder as you will want to get as much as you can into the bottle to get the correct dose.

Using a funnel, transfer the powder to the 50ml bottle. Add approximately 10ml of base solution to the bottle, place the lid on firmly and give a vigorous shaking for around 30 seconds. Add another 10ml of base solution and give another vigorous shake to the bottle. Top the bottle to the 50ml mark and give another vigorous shake.

Label the bottle, including date you made the solution and store in the refrigerator. If you have not used after two weeks, discard and make a new batch.

You have just made a 50mg in 50ml solution of Naltrexone. If there are 50mg of Naltrexone in 50ml then there is 1mg of Naltrexone in each ml. [Naltrexone 1mg/ml]

If you want a Naltrexone 3mg dose you will take 3ml of Naltrexone Solution 1mg/ml.

If you want a Naltrexone 4.5mg dose you will take 4.5ml of Naltrexone Solution 1mg/ml.

You should find this an economical way to get your supply of Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN).

Let’s take a quick look at the math: Currently we are selling 10 Nodict (Naltrexone) 50mg tablets for USD$36.50.

Each tablet should yield 11 x 4.5mg doses. Let’s keep the math simple and say each tablet provides 10 doses of LDN 4.5mg.

10 tablets will therefore provide 100 doses (100 days) of LDN 4.5mg for USD$36.50 for the active ingredient. Your only other costs will be for a base, mortar and pestle and measuring equipment.

If you are not clear on these instructions, or wish to provide feedback please contact us for further advice.
